Freebooters Krewe donation to WCF

The Westchase Krewe of Freebooters, a beloved Gasparilla krewe based in the Westchase community, presented a generous $12,000 donation to the Westchase Charitable Foundation from the proceeds of their annual charity golf tournament. This remarkable gift represents the growing partnership between these two pillars of the Westchase community.

The Freebooters, originally formed in Spring Hill in 2003 and relocated to Westchase in 2017, have made charitable giving a core part of their identity. Their mission — to provide a social, leadership, and charitable platform for the benefit of the community — aligns perfectly with WCF's goal of supporting Tampa Bay families in crisis.

To date, the Freebooters have raised over $15,000 for the Westchase Charitable Foundation through their golf tournaments alone. The krewe can be found at virtually every signature Westchase event, including the Santa Parade, Westchase Egg Hunt, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the Great West Chase.

The $12,000 donation will go directly to supporting Tampa Bay families facing serious illness or unexpected tragedy — funding medical equipment, covering essential living expenses, and providing a lifeline during the most challenging moments a family can face.

This partnership exemplifies what makes Westchase special: a community where neighbors don't just know each other — they show up for each other. Whether in pirate costumes on a parade float or on the golf course raising funds, the Freebooters embody the spirit of families helping families.
